A community initiative to help restore Doyles Creek
Through a planned program of weed remediation, ongoing maintenance and native plant regeneration we hope to restore Doyles Creek to a healthy ecosystem and protect it from flood damage in the future.
A passion for nature
Our team members love the land – and we love the beautiful valley we live work and play in.
Removal of Existing weeds
Using environmentally safe methods we will initially remove major weed beds from the entire length of the creek, using riparian environment friendly methods.
Ongoing control of new emerging weeds and weed regrowth
Noxious weed seeds are spread by flood events and bird droppings. So we have a program of ongoing maintence to stop new wee sedlings as soon as they appear.
Retoring native vegetation
Key to stopping weeds form spreading is to restore the native plants that should be in the creek habitat such as Casuarina cunninghamiana(River Oak) and Eucalyptus camaldulensis(River Redgum)
Strengthening creek banks agains erosion
It’s not only trees that stabilise creek banks. On the lower creek banks, native grassy plants with strong root systems, like Lomandra longifolia (Spiny-headed mat rush) do an excellent job of stabilising banks and keeping noxious weeds form gettign establiched.

Landholder support
Key to keeping the weeds under control is to keep an eye on the creek and address any new weeds as they appear. Getting them early is key to success. Our local landholders are a key part of the program and we couldn’t succeed without them
